Rams Regain First Place in NFC West

The Los Angeles Rams are in first place once again. After 13 weeks into the regular season, the Rams are 8-4, and they are atop the NFC West all by themselves. For the second time this season, the Rams were the only team in their division to win. The Cardinals fell to the Rams at home 38-28. The Seahawks lost a stunner at home to the Giants 17-12. Lastly, the 49ers were defeated by the Bills on Monday Night Football 34-24. With four games remaining in the regular season, Rams have control of their own destiny.

As for those four games left on the schedule, two of them will be divisional games. The divisional games will be against the Seahawks and Cardinals. The other two games will be against the AFC East. Those two teams are the Patriots and Jets. Another benefit from the remaining schedule is three of the four games will be at home, in Los Angeles, at Sofi Stadium.  The only road game left for the Rams is Week 16 against the Seahawks in Seattle. The Seahawks are also the only team currently over .500. The Cardinals and Patriots sit at 6-6. As for the Jets, they are 0-12 this season.

With Los Angeles back in first place, their playoff odds have increased to 99%. This is partly due to the expanded playoff format this season with a seventh team from each conference receiving a playoff spot. All the Rams need to do is beat the Patriots on Thursday Night football and they will clinch a playoff spot. If the current standings hold, the Rams would host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs. Earlier in the season the Rams traveled to Tampa Bay and defeated the Buccaneers  27-24.

As for the game on Sunday, the Rams continued their dominance over the Cardinals. With a 38-28 win, the Rams have now won 7 consecutive games against the Cardinals. Donald and Justin Hollins recorded a sack respectively. Late in the fourth quarter, Troy Hill intercepted Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for a pick six. If the Rams can continue to fire on all cylinders the way they currently are, then they should be able to knock off the Patriots. However the Patriots have already spent a week in Los Angeles as they are coming off a 45-0 win over the Chargers. Thursday night could be special for the Rams and their fans.
