THE LAKERS ARE CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN!!!

How will history remember the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019-2020? A team of destiny, the team that had battled through all of the adversity they had to face? A group of guys that had two legit superstars and a bunch of journeymen How will this team be
remembered?

On October 11, 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA title for the seventeenth time in the franchise history. Ten months ago, the greatest player in the history of the Lakers, Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Bryant and several others died in a helicopter accident.

The season truly had a cloud of emotions over the team that has always known success. The Lakers set out with the mindset of “Just win this one for Kobe.”

Game six of the NBA Finals wasn’t even close. The Lakers and LeBron James knew they had to do something special after the team let game five slip away to the Miami Heat. James and Davis made sure this one was not to be denied. At the end of the first quarter, the Lakers led by eight points, 28-20. But by halftime, the Lakers had a commanding lead at 64-36. The lead grew as the game went on, as the Lakers never trailed in this game.

Congratulations go out to the Lakers and the players that were on this team that might have been overlooked. Danny Green is now a three-time NBA champ with his third team. Rajon Rondo hurt the Lakers when he was a member of the Boston Celtics who beat Kobe Bryant’s Lakers back in 2008. Now he has two rings with the two most historic franchises in the league. Dwight Howard will probably end up in the NBA Hall Of Fame someday. We all know the story the first time he was in Los Angeles after he left his career was on the downside with Houston, Atlanta, Charlette, and Washington, but the Lakers gave him a second chance and he redeemed himself with the biggest reward. Markieff Morris came over from the Detriot Pistons to give the Lakers some more muscle on their frontcourt.

LeBron’s former teammates are enjoying this championship as well. JR Smith ran around with his shirt off again as he celebrated his second title. Dion Waiters played on both Miami and Los Angeles would have won the title with both teams in the finals this season,

Alex Caruso, the scrappy third-year heart and soul of the team made his first NBA Finals start last night and was a crucial part of this championship team. Adrian Bradley opted out of the restart of the season but contributed before the pandemic started. JaVale McGee won his third title while playing with Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and LeBron James some of the greatest players of this era.

In conclusion, this was the best season for the Los Angeles Lakers, for a team that was put through some of the most difficult times they managed to keep their egos in check, concentrate on the ultimate goal as they kept the memory of Kobe Bryant alive. Congratulation to the Lakers organization, Owner Jeannie Buss, GM Rob Plinka, and Head Coach Frank Vogel for a great season. The staff of CaliSports News congratulates the seventeenth Championship of the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers.
