BREAKING: San Diego Padres Sign James Shields

According to Chris Cotillo of SB Nation the San Diego Padres and James Shields have agreed to a four-year deal.

Cotillo reported the deal is in the 72-78 million dollar range for four years.

Multiple reporters had reported that the San Diego Padres were the favorites to land Shields and looks as if a deal is finally done.

The Padres have been very busy this winter with Shields being the latest addition. The addition of Shields adds to an already strong Padres starting rotation.  A  rotation of Shields, Andrew Cashner, Tyson Ross, and Ian Kennedy will be a force to be reckoned with in the competitive NL west.

James Shields is coming off a strong year where he had a 3.21 ERA as he and the Kansas City Royals advanced to the World Series before losing to the San Francisco Giants. He will get his shot at revenge in the NL West and he looks to be more than ready for the challenge.

It is an exciting time to be a Padres fan with the revamped roster and the 2016 All-Star game heading to Petco Park.

Padres fans how do you feel about the move?
