Chargers Lose A Close One To Kansas City, 23-20.

A heartbreaking loss to the Champion Kansas City Chiefs in overtime 23-20. The Los Angeles Chargers had a chance to win but just came up a field goal short.
Rookie Justin Herbert made his NFL debut as he was told he would start this game just several minutes before kick-off. Tyrod Taylor suffered chest pains during the warmups before the game. Taylor was taken to the hospital for more tests.
Herbert was spectacular in his start, 22 of 33 for 311 yards one touchdown pass and one interception. While facing the Chiefs’ defense, he looked very poised and relaxed as the signal-caller for the Chargers. Herbert scored the first rushing touchdown of his career early in the game on a four-yard run to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead.
The Chargers led surprisingly at the half 14-6 when Herbert connected with Jalen Guyton on a 14-yard touchdown pass. After being down for most of the game, the Chiefs showed why they are the most explosive offense in the league. Patrick Mahomes marched the Chiefs down the field in six plays that ended with a 54-yard strike to Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs converted on their two-point try that tied the game at 17. Both teams exchanged field goals to even at 20 each.
After the Chargers were unable to score, Mahomes moved the Chiefs again to set up his kicker Harrison Butker. It only took 13 plays that ended in a perfect 58-yard field goal to give the Chiefs a comeback win in overtime.
The loss was only the first of the season, but the Chargers showed that they can play with the Champs. The team will remain at home to face the winless Carolina Panthers. They might not have their star running back Christian McCaffrey who suffered an ankle
injured will undergo an MRI on Monday.
