Lakers Get The Win 125-120, Over A Young Warriors Team.
- Updated: February 9, 2020
This was a very educational game for the Los Angeles Lakers. Sloppy play at the start but they were able to hold off a young Golden State Warriors squad, 125-120.
On the opening tip-off, a mixup between Anthony Davis and LeBron James resulted in a turnover, gave this game seemed to be oddly favoring the Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The team started 0 for 5 but rebounded to take a 33-25 lead after the first quarter. Adrian Bradley made 3, 3-pointers in the first give the Lakers a boost after the slow start.
Warriors Andrew Wiggins had a nice game in his first start for the Warriors after coming over in the Russell trade with Minnesota. Wiggins had 13 points at the half and ended the game with 24 points in his debut.
The Lakers build a solid 21 point lead midway through the third quarter but watched it evaporate by the end of the quarter and only led by 12. The inexperience of the Warriors started to show in the final quarter when the Lakers offense started to kick into gear. Rajon Rondo, Kyle Kuzma, and Dwight Howard all contributed down the stretch to keep the Warriors from overtaking the Lakers late.
LeBron James sealed the deal and the game for the Lakers on a long 30ft. stepback three-pointer with 16.9 left that gave the Lakers a 124-116 lead and the game.
The Warriors, despite their record, play their hearts out against the best team in the Western Conference. They were pesky and two players Jordan Poole 19 points and Marquese Chriss 26 points gave the Lakers a lot of trouble.
NEXT UP FOR THE LAKERS,
Just two games left before the All-Star break, a Monday night game against the Phoenix Suns at home and a Wednesday night game in Denver against the Nuggets. The Lakers (39-12) still lead the Pacific Division by 3.5 games over the Los Angeles Clippers and have a 3 game lead over Denver for the best record in the Western Conference.
