Rams Season Preview

Los Angeles is ready. After a disappointing end to a to an exciting season, the Rams are back. The reigning NFC champions are ready to make a push and quiet the critics along the way. During the off-season, the Rams picked up a number of pieces to send them right back to the playoffs. With only one week left in the preseason, it is clear who will be ready to go for the Rams in Week 1. Here is a recap of what took place for the Rams this off-season.

In March, the club had a successful draft class. With their first three picks, the Rams selected S Taylor Rapp, RB Darrell Henderson Jr., and CB David Long Jr. respectively. Later, with their next few picks, they selected OL Bobby Evans, DL Greg Gaines, and OL David Edwards. Finally, with the last couple of picks, they would go to select S Nick Scott and LB Dakota Allen. The most intriguing aspect of the Rams draft is the plan going forward with the players. That plan is to groom the 2019 draftees this season and learn from the veteran players on the team. One example of this plan is with Taylor Rapp. Rapp will certainly see time on the field this year, it just might not be as much as Eric Weddle will. Rapp will get snaps this season and split the playing time with Weddle, while also learning from him. When Weddle’s deal ends, Rapp will be ready for the job full time.

As for the current season, the Rams have plenty of talent to send them to the playoffs for the third consecutive year. To follow suit with strong draft selections, the Rams signed some major free agents. The club went on to sign LB Clay Matthews, LB Dante Fowler, QB Blake Bortles, and S Eric Weddle. These veteran players all have valuable playoff experience. Not only do they provide experience to a young team, but they also provide some serious depth. As a result of this off-season, the Rams have put themselves in a good position to win.

Not only have the Rams brought in some great players, but they also have a number of big stars returning this year as well. Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald are just some of the names who are ready to continue their success. As the preseason concludes this weekend, the Rams will be ready to go. They have a modest schedule and some exciting matchups. No matter what happens this year, they will have a special season. This is the last season they will play in the LA Memorial Coliseum. As for now, enjoy this team, they are special, and they have the ability to win it all.
