Omar Minaya Leaves Padres To Join MLB Players Association

According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com Omar Minaya will step down from his postion with the San Diego Padres to join the Major League Baseball Players Association.

Minaya was the New York Mets general manager back in 2004. Most recently he was the senior vice president of the Padres. He will take on the responsibility of being a special advisor to Tony Clark.

Rubin also reported more detail about Minaya’s new position.

Micheal Baron of ESPN.com reported the details released by the Player Assoication.

The move comes a shock for most as Minaya and the Padres executive staff have been working tirelessly this offseason in order to build a better team.
