The Los Angeles Kings are called the comeback Kings for a reason and tonight they showed why. After a rocky first half of the season the Kings opened up this second half of the year on the right note.

Tonight’s game was a big rivalry game as the Kings and Blackhawks have been the dominant teams in the Western Conference the last few years.  Oh yeah who could forget the fact that these team met in the Western Conference Finals last year.

There has been tons of distractions this week with the Mike Richards situation but tonight the Kings put all of that to the side and went out and got the job done.

Tonight’s game started off on the wrong foot with Patrick Kane scoring the opening goal that was assisted by David Rundblad and Patrick Sharp.

Jeff Carter scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Brayden McNabb and Tyler Toffoli that evened the score. Sharp sent a slap shot past Jonathan Quick that was assisted by Kane and Duncan Keith. Just like that the Blackhawks held a 2-1 advantage at the end of the first period.

Carter opened up the second period with a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik. this was the only goal of the period and game headed to the third tied 2-2.

In the third period Andrew Shaw scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Teuvo Teravainen that put the Hawks up 3-2. As the period went on it looked as if the Kings would lose another close one at home.

Toffoli who returned from injury today scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Dwight King and Carter which allowed Staples Center to erupt.

The Kings were not done as Jake Muzzin put a wrist shot through the net with just under four minutes remaining in the period. It would serve to be the game winning goal that was assisted by Kopitar and the Kings won 4-3.

It seems like no matter what the Kings love to give the fans a show. Tonight’s show sent the fans home happy and excited for the rest of this season.

The Kings will look to keep up the momentum as they take on the Boston Bruins on the road on Saturday.
