Padres open 2019 on a High Note

Baseball has arrived. San Diego is ready. The Padres announced a sellout crowd on Thursday afternoon at Petco Park. The following games over the weekend also saw a healthy attendance. As usual, the Opening Day festivities were wonderful. Baseball in San Diego has more meaning to the community now ever since the Chargers relocated to Los Angeles. The Padres opened the new season with a 2-0 win over San Francisco. San Diego would go on to win three out of four games in the series. 2019 will be an interesting year for the Padres. The signing of Machado has created expectations for the organization.

After 8 consecutive losing seasons, the San Diego is ready to turn the page. The fanbase is ready to support a winning team. However, the playoffs are a reach for San Diego this year due to a young, and inexperienced roster. Luckily for San Diego, they have the number one ranked farm system for the second year in a row If everything goes according to plan this year, the Padres should finish around .500, and 3rd place in the NL West. As for now though, San Diego has to show some growth with their young rookies. Hopefully, the Padres window of contention opens up this year.
