Lakers Lose In Philadelphia, 143-120
- Updated: February 11, 2019
Kyle Kuzma had one of the best games of the season, scoring 20 points in the first quarter but the Philadelphia 76ers big three was too much as they beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 143-120.
Kuzma ended the game with 39 points to lead the team in scoring. A slow start for LeBron James who just another triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. JaVale McGee had a strong performance with 21 points and 13 boards to lead the team in rebounds. Brandon Ingram was perfect from the free-throw line, connecting on all seven attempts.
The 20 points in the first quarter for Kyle Kuzma was half of the team’s output, as the Lakers managed a 40-39 first quarter lead. But a 37-point production by the Sixers in the second quarter gave Philadelphia a 76-67 lead. The Sixers ran away from the Lakers in the second half 77-53 but the Lakers got close only but never took the lead.
In this game, the Sixers were red-hot from the three-point line, 12-24. The Lakers were dominated in the rebound category only edging the Philadelphia out by one rebound, 43-42.
Los Angeles looked awful on the defensive side, on multiple possessions there was no help defense and the Sixers had easy paths to the basket. The defense has to get better and improve!
Los Angeles (28-28) are now heading to Atlanta to face the Hawks on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm. This is a game that they can win, the Hawks are at the bottom of their division and the Lakers can improve on their 12-18 road record.
