Much Needed Win for Anaheim Ducks Turns Disastrous

Anaheim Ducks come in strong in the first two periods. They tend to always die out in the third period due to fast pace course of events. Seems to be the same story each game. A high scoring game can lead to much pressure and can cause some sort of frustration and exhaustion for the entire team. Not sure if we have the right chemistry on the ice. The Anaheim Ducks have a great passing game but when its time to get the puck to the back of the net they come up short most times. Especially during power play moments, the Anaheim Ducks need to exercise more of their opportunities.

The first period at home for the Anaheim Ducks was a great way to start a game at home. Ondrej Kase moves in fast with a shot on goal. Everyone had thought Ondrej Kase had gotten the goal, but with further review, Nick Ritchie ends up with the redirect goal. John Gibson comes up with some major saves early in the first period as well. One save with a right foot block and even had a cover-up on the ice for the stop on the play. John Gibson seizes the opportunity to stop the play by jumping on Ryan Kessler where the puck had landed under. Ryan Getzlaf also catches a score for The Anaheim Ducks with a quick release shot. Daniel Sprong with some major changes from the front which finally leads to a goal. Daniel Sprong Stays in the pocket and finally is able to catch a moment for a nice release for the goal. Penguins have a chance with a two to one breakaway, but Daniel Sprong breaks it up early. Ryan Getzlaf And Ryan Kessler also get a chance to score but stopped by Penguins goalie Matt Murray. Jake Guenztel had some opportunities in the first, but John Gibson denies him with a right shoulder save. Sisney Crosby also with some opportunities but also comes up short. Sidney Crosby was relentless on John Gibson in the first period, but John Gibson manages a shutout in the first period. The Anaheim Ducks end period with one man down. The first period ends 3-0.

The second period starts off with a power play Goal for The penguins right out of the gate. Evengi Malkin Gets one past John Gibson for the upfront goal, with one minute into the second period. Then much pressure leads to another power play penguins goal by Jake Guenztel. Penguins turn game into a one-point advantage game. Jake Guenztle gets another goal for the tie. The Pittsburgh Penguins turned the game completely around at this time. Jakob Silfverburg gets the breakaway goal to lead the team into the third period. The second period ends Anaheim Ducks 4, The Pittsburgh Penguins 3.

The Anaheim Ducks like most games lose their momentum in the third period. they tend to gas themselves out in the first two periods. This seems to be the telling tale of the last ten games. Tanner Pearson for The penguins starts off the third period with a goal for the tie. Tied up at four. The Anaheim Ducks can’t seem to stop the barrage that was about to unfold on them. Phil Kessel with a one on one goal with a rebound off of Gibson for the first time lead in the game. John Gibson seems to be there on goal but the rebounds off of him are too much to handle for him. John Gibson needs more support if he is to stop everything. The Anaheim Ducks Defense lacks in puck retrieval which leads to an empty, unfortunately. Tanner Pearson gets a rebound goal off of Gibson as well. Anaheim Ducks pull John Gibson which leads to Jake Guentzel getting an empty-net goal for a hat trick. Pittsburgh wins 7-4.

The Anaheim Ducks needed a much-needed win last night. To enter playoffs at this point is a fairy tale. I personally don’t think the firing of the head coach will make much of a difference. This is a new team which needs some adjustment on the way they attack the goal. Hopefully, the Anaheim Ducks can pull some much-needed chemistry to pull off a win for a gleam of hope for the rest of this season.
