Clippers Hold On In 127-118 Win Against Kings

Clippers

After playing well in a loss to the Warriors on Sunday, the LA Clippers showed up to Staples Center clicking on all cylinders for their matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

All Clippers starters scored in double-digits with two bench players managing double-digit scoring as well.

Tobias Harris led the way for the starters with 17 points on 3-5 from three point range. Harris contributed in more ways than just one with 6 rebounds and 3 assists as well. Rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked like he was shot out of cannon in this one, knocking home 11 points in the game’s first 8 minutes. He faced a tough matchup with De’Aaron Fox and didn’t manage much after the scorching start, closing it out with 13 points and 4 rebounds.

Per usual the bench was led by Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams. The reigning sixth man of the year Williams had a well rounded performance with 24 points and a team-high 6 assists including a fantastic late run that saw him help the Clippers grow their lead. Despite Williams’ terrific performance it was clear Harrell made the greatest impact for his team in this game. Not just off the bench but arguably more than anybody who wore a Clippers jersey in this game. Harrell played with his patented energetic style and it gave the opposing Kings problems. Harrell finished the game with 22 points, 9 rebounds and a sensational 5 blocks.

LA led this game comfortably throughout, leading by more than 20 at multiple points in the game. That success allowed the Clippers to rest their starters for a bit as the game was winding down, until Sacramento went on a 19-0 run to force LA’s best back into duty. Trimming what was once a 27 points lead to as little as 3, the Kings put a scare into the Clippers but the home team was able to close out the game with a 127-118 victory.

The Clippers will be back in Staples Center for their next matchup on Friday with their in-arena rivals the Lakers. While LeBron James may not play due to an injury sustained against Golden State on Christmas Day, the matchup between the Los Angeles teams is always a fun one to watch with so much bragging rights on the line between the two fanbases and teams.
