Rivers Makes History, Chargers Beat Arizona 45-10

A historic performance from a future Hall Of Fame Quarterback as Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers dominated the Arizona Cardinals 45-10.

When the Chargers took the field, they never expected a game that Philip Rivers would have. Rivers tied and broke the mark for the most consecutive completions to start a game and for the highest completion percentage in a game. Rivers started the game connecting on his first 25 passes and ended the gage 28 of 29 passes completed. The previous mark was held by Miami’s Ryan Tannehill in 2015, hitting his last seven against Tennessee and his first 18 against the Houston Texans the following week.

The game got out of reach in the second quarter when the Chargers erased a 10-point deficit and turned that into an 18-point lead by halftime. the Bolts added 14 points in the third and a field goal only in the fourth. The Cardinals failed to score any points after the touchdown pass from former UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen to Larry Fitzgerald and a 30-yard field goal from Phil Dawson.

Melvin Gordon scored two touchdowns on 61 yards on the ground but left the game early in the third quarter with an MCL injury to his right knee. His injury will be evaluated and will his status against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

As mentioned earlier, the Chargers (8-3), will face the Steelers (7-3-1) in Pittsburgh as the Sunday night primetime game showdown. The Chargers are now only a game behind the first place Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West and in full control of a Wild Card berth.
