Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported further information.
It’s been clear that Clayton Kershaw wants to stay with the Dodgers. It’s clearer now, with the extension of the deadline to opt out of his deal until 4 p.m. Friday, that the Dodgers want him, too. Something like a two-year extension on top of two option years seems likeliest.

Passan added more information.
Clayton Kershaw leveraged his opt-out clause into an additional one year and $28M guaranteed. It will take him through his age-33 season, at which point he can hit free agency again. Both sides wanted to get a deal done and seems to be perfectly reasonable for player and team.

It was important to make sure the Dodgers reached an agreement with their ace and they got it done before free agency started.
