Dodgers Win A Classic Over Boston, 3-2

Epic, Classic, Historic, just three words to explain last night’s game three of the World Series as the Dodgers beat Boston, 3-2.

Max Muncy‘s game-winning home run in the bottom of the 18th inning was just what the Dodgers needed to wake up a team that was flat in Boston.

After a near miss of a walk-off in the bottom of the 15th inning, Muncy’s luck changed the second time he faced Nathan Eovaldi, taking his pitch over the left-centerfield wall to pull the Dodgers within a game of evening the series at two games to one.

The Dodgers nearly lost this game in the bottom of the 13th, with two outs Yasiel Puig‘s bouncer, went Sox second baseman and former Angel Ian Kinsler. As Kinsler slipped his throw was offline as Muncy scored the all-important tying run.

Both teams had countless chances and opportunities to win this game, from the baserunning blunders, errors and the detailed situations of the game baseball, this game had it all!

HISTORY:

In the longest game played World Series game ever played by time length and innings Muncy joins Dodgers great Kirk Gibson to hit a walk-off homer back in 1988.

Walker Buehler pitched 7 scoreless innings, two hits or fewer and no walks allowed for the third time in baseball history.
(Roger Clemens 2000 WS game 2, Don Larson 1956 WS game 5)

46 of the 50 rostered players entered this game, 23 for each team. 18 pitchers were used and Boston reliever Nathan Eovaldi pitched six innings of relief on 97 pitches thrown.

The Red Sox and Dodgers have had their share of classic moments. This game will go down in history. Not since the 75′ World Series in game six when Carlton Fisk‘s dramatic game-winner homer or Gibson’s blast in 1988 that ended both games. We may never see any game like this one ever again.

Game 4 will be played tonight at Dodger Stadium, at this time no starters have been named by neither team, isn’t that surprising after last night.
