The rumors and the speculation is now clear with the announcement coming this morning from the Los Angeles Angels front office.
For the first time since 2000, the Los Angeles Angels will have a new skipper. The Angels announced Brad Ausmus as the team’s new manager, replacing Mike Scioscia after 19 years at the helm.
Ausmus was working in the team’s front office as an assistant to general manager Billy Eppler. Ausmus has managerial experience, he was hired back in 2014 as the Detriot Tigers manager until 2017. He led the team to the AL Central title in his first season. His record as a manager stands at 314-332.
Ausmus spent 18 years in the league as a catcher for the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, Detriot Tigers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Mike Scioscia ends his run as the franchise’s all-time leader in wins as a manager with a 1650-1428 record.
