Anaheim Ducks Open Season Vs. Sharks
- Updated: October 3, 2018
The Anaheim Ducks will open the season against the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center. San Jose went out this offseason and made one of the largest acquisitions of the summer adding Erik Karlsson as they look to improve on their second-round exit from last years playoffs.
Pairing Karlsson and Brent Burns to go along with Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton and Martin Jones have Sharks fans excited for this season.
These two teams met in the playoffs last year and the Sharks swept the Ducks. For Anaheim, they are starting the year without Corey Perry. Perry underwent knee surgery and is expected to be out up to five months.
Ondrej Kase is out with a concussion while Patrick Eaves and Ryan Kesler are dealing with shoulder and hip injuries. Anaheim will turn to Rickard Rakell and young talented players like Sam Steel, Troy Terry, and Max Comtois while the veterans recover.
John Gibson will be able to provide the club some stability in the goaltending spot and Anaheim is hoping he can provide some heroics early on in the year.
Fans can watch tonights game at 7:30 p.m. om NBCS or listen to the game on the NHL App.
