Padres Sign With New Double A Affiliate

Padres

The San Diego Padres have signed with a new double-A affiliate. After their partnership with the San Antonio Missions expired, the club had to look elsewhere. The Padres have signed with Amarillo. The team name, logo, and colors have not yet been announced.

When the triple-A affiliate relocated from Oregon to Texas, the fans were the ones who decided the team details. The lasting effects of this will be interesting. The city of San Diego is at sea level, while the city of Amarillo is well above sea level.

Due to the high elevation of Amarillo, the offensive numbers should notably increase. As a result of the new partnership, all top prospects will now report there as well as the Padres coaches. One benefit of the new affiliate is how close it is to El Paso. El Paso is the home of the triple-A affiliate.

San Diego will continue to build their farm system for the future.
