Chargers, No Problem With Oakland, 26-10

The Los Angeles Chargers scored early and often in their win over the Oakland Raiders, 26-10.

Philip Rivers passed for 339 yards and two touchdown passes in the win. This was the 59th time in his career that he has passed for 300 yards. Austin Ekeler caught the first touchdown pass from Rivers on a 44-yard score in the second quarter to extend the lead to 10-3 before halftime. Tight End Virgil Green scored his first touchdown of the season on a 13-yard pass.

Melvin Gordon had 120 yards from scrimmage (62 receiving, 58 rushing). Caleb Sturgis connected on two field goals, one in the first quarter to put Los Angeles on the scoreboard first. His second gave the Chargers a commanding lead at 20-3 in the third quarter.

The Los Angeles defense was able to get to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, sacking him three times. Melvin Ingram was the team’s defensive star, 7 tackles, 5 solos, 2 tackles for losses, 1 sack, and an interception.

BOLT NOTES:

Not a bad day all around for Los Angeles in the stats department. The team dominated the time of possession 34:40 to 25:20 while making good on their red zone trips going 2 for 4. The Raiders were able to win one battle, they on committed 7 penalties while the Chargers committed 9.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

The Chargers (3-2) will head to the East to Ohio to face the new and improved Cleveland Browns (2-2-1). The Browns got a big win in their three overtime game of the season over the Baltimore Ravens. With the win, the Chargers remain in second place in the AFC West, two games behind the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.
