Braves Acquire Angels Catcher Rene Rivera

According to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim official Twitter account, the Atlanta Braves have claimed catcher Rene Rivera off of waivers.
Today, C Rene Rivera was claimed off waivers and assigned to the Atlanta Braves.

René Rivera (catcher) is mostly known for his defense. He was just reinstated from 60-day DL two weeks ago after knee surgery to repair a meniscus tear in May. He’s hitting .244 with 4 HR in 30 games/82 ABs this season. #Braves

Riveria was selected in the second round in the 2001 MLB Draft. He has spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Angels throughout his career.
