Padres Fall to Mets 6-3

Padres

The Padres dropped the second game of the series to the Mets on Tuesday evening. Starting pitcher Eric Lauer did not have his best stuff. San Diego’s starting pitcher was only able to last four innings, giving up six earned runs in the process. Lauer allowed three runs in the first, two runs in the third, and one run in the fourth. From there on, the remainder of the game was in the hands of San Diego’s bullpen. Reliever Robert Stock pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five in his relief appearance. Phil Hughes entered the game in the eighth, as he also pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Offensively for the Padres, the bright spot was Wil Myers. Myers drove in all three runs for San Diego, collecting two hits in the game as well. Center fielder Manuel Margot also collected two hits and scored two runs in the ballgame.

Up next for San Diego, they will conclude the three-game series with the Mets on Wednesday afternoon. The Padres will get another shot at winning the series as they will send to the mound left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard. Richard is seven and nine with a 4.82 earned run average this season.
