Padres Quiet In Game 2

On Sunday evening the San Diego Padres were unable to score any runs in the second game of a double header. San Diego’s offense only tallied two hits in the game. Catcher A.J. Ellis lined a single to left, and second baseman Jose Pirela singled to center. The highlight of the game was from the Padres starting pitcher Luis Perdomo.

Luis Perdomo pitched six and one-third of an inning, giving up three runs on five hits. Perdomo also walked one and struck out five. The big blow came in the seventh inning when reliever Phil Maton gave up a three-run homer. Philadelphia threatened to score in the eighth inning off of reliever Phil Hughes when the had the bases loaded, but Hughes was able to get out of the jam. San Diego eventually lost 5-0, thus losing the series.

Up next for San Diego, they will travel to New York for a three-game series against the Mets. The Padres will send to the mound left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer for the opener of the series.
