Clippers Extend Avery Bradley

Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a contract extension with guard Avery Bradley.

Bradley was acquired by the Clippers last season as part of the Blake Griffin trade in January but was only available to play for the team in 6 games due to a sports hernia injury.

Bradley is a defensive minded guard, that when paired up with another defensive guard in Patrick Beverly could potentially give the Clippers a stifling backcourt on that end of the floor. The length of Bradley is a downside defensively, being only 6’2″ he won’t be able to guard longer opponents that fit a Klay Thompson mold at the shooting guard position.

Bradley has also been inconsistent offensively throughout his career. With career averages of 12.3 points and 1.7 assists, he hasn’t shown a consistent enough shot or scoring ability when needed. With that being said, scoring in the backcourt is something this Los Angeles team desperately needs and this signing doesn’t exactly fit that need.

However having been apart of Head Coach Doc Rivers teams in Boston at the beginning of his career, the system familiarity Bradley has seems to hold some value for the team. Rivers loves Bradley’s defensive tenacity and the pairing of Bradley and Beverly will be a fun one to watch as they are sure to give opposing offenses fits.
