Clippers Battle To 105-98 Win Over Bucks

Clippers

After meeting up last Wednesday the Los Angeles Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks faced off again on Tuesday, this time at Staples Center. In their last meeting it was the Clippers that came out on top 127-120 on a huge 25 point and 22 rebound performance from DeAndre Jordan.

This time Los Angeles needed other players on the roster to step up if they were going to get the win. Early on Milos Teodosic filled that role. Teodosic helped get the Clippers off to a scorching start with his shooting from beyond the arc. Teodosic started off 4-4 from long range and the team followed suit going 7-7 before recording a miss from distance. On Serbian heritage night the 31 year-old Serbian found other ways to help his team out besides knocking shots down, he used his incredible vision.

Teodosic would leave the game slightly after this highlight reel pass with a sore left plantar fascia and would not return. He finished the game with 13 points and 4 assists.

Coming into the game, Los Angeles was fortunate and had some teams in front of them in the ultra-competitive Western Conference playoff race drop some games. Early on the team appeared fired up and ready to gain some ground on those teams they trailed, leading this game by as many as 16. However the playoff bound Bucks didn’t seem discouraged and kept themselves hanging around.

Milwaukee managed to get some fantastic performances from their stars including the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis made his presence felt in the post with some monster blocks tallying 5 before the game was finished. He also managed to have as well-rounded of a game as his team could ask, chipping in 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by the time this one was over.

Behind the shooting of Giannis and Kris Middleton the Bucks clawed their way back into the game and took the lead in the third quarter for the first time since leading 2-0.

Trailing 88-83 with eight minutes remaining the Clippers needed somebody to step up if they were going to win this game. Austin Rivers and Tobias Harris answered that call and helped the team go on a 13-0 run, putting them back in front. Rivers got hot from beyond the arc after a cold start finishing with 13 points scoring 10 of those in the fourth quarter alone. Harris seemingly wanted to outdo his teammate and managed to knock in 2 threes in the final quarter, finishing the game with a team-high 19 points.

That final spurt by the Clippers would be enough for them to hold on for a tight 105-98 victory at home.

A huge win for Los Angeles in a game that had a playoff atmosphere down the stretch. Every game is important this time of year and with another game coming up tomorrow against the Phoenix Suns it’s always good to get a win on the first night of a back to back.
