Pacers Fend Off Clippers To Win 109-104

Clippers

With ten games left this season the Los Angeles Clippers headed to Indiana to take on the Pacers Friday night. While the Clippers are in a tight battle for the final seed in the Western Conference their opponents for this one have all but clinched a spot in the East, as they currently sit safely in the 5th seed with a chance at the 4th.

The first half of this game gave no indication of who would wind up coming out on top. With 13 lead changes and 3 ties between the two teams. Los Angeles managed to get a solid performance from Tobias Harris in the opening half as he started off the contest going 5-6 from the floor. Harris finished the game with 18 points, leading all starters.

Indiana got a stellar performance from a player many Clippers fans probably didn’t worry about prior to the game, Bojan Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic put up 17 points in the first half alone and finished the night with 28 going 3-6 from beyond the arc.

The third quarter started with the Pacers going on a tear. Victor Oladipo started it off with a three ball and got some confidence in his shot after a rough first half that saw him score 0 points. Oladipo and Indiana would jump out to a lead as large as 18.

Lou Williams however was not willing to quit just yet. A run by the sixth man got his club back into the game and eventually led to the Clippers regaining the lead in the fourth quarter. The NBA’s leader in fourth quarter scoring, Williams was fantastic in the second half and put together a double-double performance with a team-high 27 points and 10 assists.

The key in this game would be rebounds and the Pacers dominated in that phase of the game, particularly on the offensive end. Indiana finished +8 in that category and had 14 on just the offensive side of the ball. None were more important than an offensive rebound and a put back by Thaddeus Young with just over 30 seconds remaining giving his Pacers a 4 point lead and putting the game out of reach.

The Clippers fought their way back into the game after trailing by double-digits but they couldn’t muster up the energy to finish it off. Losing in Bankers Life Fieldhouse 109-104.

The schedule only gets tougher for Los Angeles as they head to Toronto Sunday to take on the Eastern Conference leading Raptors.
