Weekly Reign Wrap-up: Undefeated Week!

Now that is the kinda week the Ontario Reign wanted. A rare undefeated week.

A few weeks ago, the team sat in sixth place in the Pacific Division. Today, at 32-20-4-2 and 70 points, the team sits in second place .037 percentage points out of first.

What a great week.

This week’s first game is against the Bakersfield Condors at 7 p.m., Fridaym March 23 at Citizens Bank Arena.

Other big news, besides the Reign’s reign this week was the fact forward T.J. Hensick was selected as CCM Hockey / AHL Player of the Week with six points in three games.

What a three games that was – each one decided by a one point difference.

In the March 14 matchup, T.J. Hensick scored two goals including one in overtime to secure the victory for the Reign, 3-2 against the Cleveland Monsters. Cal Petersen saved 30 of 32 shots in the win.

In the March 17 game, another 3-2 victory, Cal Petersen once again saved all but two shots out 27 for the victory. Hensick scored the winning goal late in the second and the team never looked back.

On the next night, the Reign went into overtime again, this time getting a goal from Brett Sutter, his 12th on the season, to win 5-4 against the San Jose Barracuda. New Reign goalie Scott Wedgewood saved 31 of 35 shots. Jonny Brodzinski scored two goals, and wallah – three victories for the week, and a secured second place in the division.
