Clippers Coast By Knicks 128-105

Clippers

After a lethargic performance against Houston Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers looked to rebound Friday night against the New York Knicks.

Right out of the opening tip the energy level for the Clippers was clearly much higher than in their last performance. Amazing what getting some rest can do for a team. Early on that energy and momentum was created mostly by DeAndre Jordan. Jordan took advantage of the mismatch he had in the post, managing 14 points and 8 rebounds in just the opening quarter. After sealing in a double-double midway through the third, Jordan continued to have an impact in the paint. He would finish the game with 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Los Angeles was not short on scoring help in this contest. The shots seemed to be raining in from all over the court. However, nobody hit their stride quite like Austin Rivers did in the third quarter. The Clippers actually trailed by 3 going into the half but Rivers made sure that didn’t last long. The team went on a 30-10 run sparked by the three-point shooting of Rivers that saw him knock down 4 three pointers and 14 points. Rivers closed out the night with an impressive 19 points while going 5-7 from beyond the arc.

This game was a complete game for Los Angeles and it showed with the performance put on by their bench. Lou Williams continued his run of scoring dominance putting in 21 points and 8 assists. Meanwhile the monster Montrezl Harrell dominated the low post closing out with 19 points and 4 rebounds.

The Knicks managed to keep the game close for the first half but the talent on the Clippers shined in the second half as they pulled away. The Clippers coasted to a 128-105 win.

With the season winding down and playoff positions changing hands daily in the Western Conference every win is a big one at this point. Beating teams like the Knicks is a necessity if this team wants any chance to make the playoffs.

The New York teams will continue to their West Coast trip as the Brooklyn Nets are up next at Staples Center Sunday.
