Padres Sign A.J. Ellis To Minor League Deal

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Diego Padres have signed veteran catcher A.J. Ellis to a minor league deal.

Can confirm @sdutKevinAcee report that the Padres have signed A.J. Ellis. Sounds like Ellis, Rocky Gale and Raffy Lopez will compete for the backup catcher spot in San Diego.

Ellis spent nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers before spending time with the Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins.
