Clippers Dominate Nets 114-101

Clippers

On the third of this seven game road trip the Los Angeles Clippers traveled to Brooklyn to take on the Nets Monday evening.

The Nets have been circling the drain of the eastern conference of late with the team currently battling for last place. The Clippers came into this game fighting for one of the last couple of seeds in the Western Conference that have been and will continue to be a revolving door likely until the season ends.

Los Angeles came out looking like the stronger team and did what they should, they shot the lights out. The Clippers started out making 8 of their first 10 shots and finished the first quarter shooting a fantastic 71% from the field. With Los Angeles draining shots at such a high clip let’s talk about the NBA’s leader in field goal percentage for the last couple of seasons, DeAndre Jordan. The big man flew out of the gates.

The Nets couldn’t find a way to ground Jordan and he was able to take advantage in the post. He put up yet another double-double, finishing up with 16 points, 17 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Jordan put up the highlight reel finishes, but he wasn’t the only Clippers player scoring at will. In fact, seven Clippers players finished scoring in double digits. All five Clippers starters were in that category but forwards Tobias Harris and Danilo Gallinari contributed in more ways than just one. Harris did it all, finishing with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Gallinari also stuffed the stat sheet putting together a complete performance with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The starters weren’t the only contributors to this win. Sixth man Lou Williams led the team in scoring with 20 points while also managing 4 assists. Meanwhile Montrezl Harrell owned the post when Jordan exited and managed to put in 15 points and 2 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play.

The Nets were able to get the score a bit closer in garbage time but were never able to get back in it as the Clippers led this one wire to wire, coming away with a 114-101 victory.

Los Angeles will head to Boston for their next matchup Wednesday against the Celtics in what is sure to be a tough showdown with one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
