- Updated: January 15, 2018
According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, Anaheim Ducks winger Andrew Cogliano has been suspended two games for interference.
Wow. Cogliano sees his iron man consecutive games played streak end at 830. Fourth longest in NHL history. https://t.co/vPxobN6wob

Stephens reported more information on the news.
Missed the warm-up as I had lengthy conversation with Andrew Cogliano. Will naturally write about it. But as some have already seen in TV interview, he was choked up and emotional. The streak meant a lot to him in that he’s proud to show up every day and loves to play.

Stephens continued.
To summarize briefly, Cogliano understands he initiated action and was late with hit on Kempe. Did not feel he left ice or made any other extraneous move to make the hit. Very disappointed his clean record didn’t factor in decision. First learned about hearing after Kings game.

Stephens concluded.
Many asked if he could appeal. Cogliano had that mechanism —
could have gone through NHLPA and appealed to Gary Bettman —
and considered it but ultimately wants to move on. Proud of his streak but does not want to be a distraction.— Eric Stephens (@icemancometh) January 15, 2018
