According to Jon Heyman of Fanragsports.com, the San Diego Padres are interested in free agent shortstop Alcides Escobar.
Heyman wrote a story on the situation. Below is an excerpt from the article. You can read the full article here.
“The San Diego Padres believe top shortstop prospect Fernando Tatis Jr., who’s only 18, could be ready within a year or so, so they are in the market for a stopgap shortstop and are looking at free agent Alcides Escobar, among others.”
Escobar 30, will turn 31-years old this December and has been in the majors for ten years. He has spent time with the Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas Royals throughout his career.
He was named an All-Star and won a Gold Glove in 2015 and was part of the Royals team that went on to win the World Series that season. Last season he hit .250 while playing in all 162 games.
