The San Diego Gulls defenseman, Stu Bickel, is suspended by the American Hockey League. It was announced via Twitter by the @SDGullsAHL three days ago. The SD Gulls took on the Texas Stars on Friday, the 27th of October, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Texas. Bickel is to return by November 11th to play against the Ontario Reign at the Valley View Casino Center.

The fight that ensued on the ice upset many SD Gulls fans and they took to Twitter to vent.

One fan, @JustDucky89, in response to the announcement stated, “That is embarrassing as a fan of the Gulls! You don’t hit players while they’re down on the ice. Hate that so much.” In defense of Bickel, @ClahmGames said, “You don’t really know what words are being exchanged on the ice. Stu doesn’t snap like that for no reason”. Then, @StarsPoemGirl said, “Payback for words spoken shouldn’t equal pummeling someone on the ice in a position where they cannot defend themselves. That’s assault.”

If you have not seen the fight referenced, a link to the YouTube video is below.

Do you feel the AHL was too lenient in their response, or should Bickel not be able to return and play in the upcoming game?
