Chargers Beat Oakland, 17-16

Chargers

Nick Novak‘s 32-yard field goal as time expired was the game-winner gave the Los Angeles Chargers a 17-16 win, over the Raiders in Oakland.

The Chargers (2-4) mounted a huge fourth-quarter comeback, with the outstanding play of running back Melvin Gordon and a perfectly executed final drive by quarterback Philip Rivers. Gordon has scored seven touchdowns this season, which is tied for the league lead.

Rookie wide receiver Mike Williams, the team’s first-round draft pick from Clemson made his NFL debut, with one catch for fifteen yards. Williams will be another weapon for Rivers and their very talented group of wide receivers.

BOLT NOTES:

The Chargers defense made several key plays in this game, including intercepting Oakland’s Derek Carr twice. The defense was led by linebacker Hayes Pullard III, who was all over the field, collecting ten tackles, two solo, and one for a loss.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

The Bolts will be looking for their third straight win next week as the team will host the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are coming off a home loss to the New York Giants, who fell to the Chargers last weekend. With the win and all three of their divisional rivals losing, the Bolts are now three games behind the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.
