Dolphins Spoil Chargers LA Debut

The Miami Dolphins spoiled the Los Angeles Chargers debut with a 19-17 win. Miami improves to 1-0 on the season as the Chargers drop to 0-2.

The offense got started in the first quarter when Cody Parkey hit a 30-yard field goal to put the Dolphins on the board. After the first quarter Miami led 3-0.

In the second quarter Younghoe Koo hit a 41-yard field goal to tie the score. Melvin Gordon rushed for a 1-yard touchdown later in the quarter and Los Angeles held a 10-3 advantage going into halftime.

Jay Cutler connected with Kenny Stills for a 29-yard touchdown that tied the score at 10 apiece. Philip Rivers answered back with a 7-yard touchdown to Antonio Gates to push the led back up to 17-10. For Gates it was his 112th touchdown reception as he now holds the NFL record for most TD’s as a tight end over Tony Gonzalez.

Parkey hit a 28-yard field that trimmed the lead later in the 3rd quarter. He hit a 35-yarder and 54 harder with 1:05 left in the game to give Miami a 19-17 lead.

Koo had a chance to win the game with a 44 yard field goal and missed it wide right and Los Angeles fell 19-17.

Keenan Allen led the Bolts in receiving yard with 100 even.
