Angels Use Big 6th Inning To Beat Rangers

The Los Angles Angels of Anaheim used a big 6th inning to beat the Texas Rangers 7-6 on Friday night. With the win the Angels have gained some ground on the AL Wild-Card race.

For Anaheim Bud Norris got the start. He pitched just 2 innings allowing 1 hit and struck out 1. On the other side Nick Martinez got the start. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 runs. He walked 1 and struck out 2 as he was awarded a no decision.

The offense got started in the 4th inning when Kole Calhoun hit a RBI double that brought in Justin Upton. Andrelton Simmons followed with a RBI single and the Angels led 2-0.

In the 5th inning Brett Nicholas hit a 2-run single that brought in Joey Gallo and Will Middlebrooks and tied the score a 2-2. Shin-Soo Choo hit a 2-run shot in the 6th inning that brought in Delino DeShields and gave the Rangers a 4-2 advantage.

Upton answered back with a RBI double that brought in Mike Trout. Simmons followed with another RBI single, and Luis Valbuena hit a sac-fly. C.J. Cron capped off a 5-run 6th inning to give the Angels a 7-4 advantage.

Elvis Andrews and Adrian Beltre hit a sac-flies in the 8th inning to cut the lead to 7-6. Bridwell Parker pitched 2 innings and struck out 3 as he picked up his 6th save of the year.
