In what has been an off-season of change for the Clippers front office, Winger will take over the role that has been filled by the team’s head coach Doc Rivers since he joined Los Angeles in 2013. Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer recently came to the conclusion that performing both roles is just too much for one person to handle in the NBA, it was then he announced Rivers would remain on as coach but he would find replacements to take on the task of running the team’s front office responsibilities.
Lawrence Frank was then named President of Basketball Operations and shortly thereafter Trent Redden took on the role of assistant General Manager.
Winger, whom will be reporting directly to Frank, has been seen in NBA circles as an up and comer in the role. Having worked under well respected GM’s Danny Ferry and Sam Presti, the 37 year-old Winger has been able to learn from some of the best in the business.
