Zimmerman Lifts Nats Over Padres 2-1

Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo home run in the 8th inning to lift the Washington Nationals over the San Diego Padres 2-1 on Thursday night. Washington snapped the Padres three game winning streak.
For San Diego Jhoulys Chacin pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run. He walked 4 batters and struck out 6 as he was awarded a no decision for his efforts.
On the other side Edwin Jackson had an excellent performance. He pitched 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 run. He walked 1 and struck out 4 and picked up his 4th win of the year.
In the 3rd inning Adam Lind hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Howie Kendrick. Jose Pirela hit a RBI single in the bottom half of the inning that brought in Manuel Margot and tied the score at 1-1.
In the 8th inning Zimmerman hit a solo shot that lifted the Nationals to victory. Sean Doolittle came on the 9th inning and picked up his 13th save of the year.
San Diego and Washington will continued their series tonight at 7:10 p.m. PST. Max Scherzer and Luis Perdomo are the projected starters.
