Angels Beat The Nationals, 3-2

Angels

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim returned to the win column with a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Luis Valbuena got the Angels on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning with a leadoff home run to center. The Halos increased their lead in the sixth, on Kole Calhoun’s two-run shot to right.

Ricky Nolasco (W,6-12) picked up the win and the bullpen shut down the Nats for the remainder of the game. Nolasco only made one bad pitch, a two-run homer to Ryan Zimmerman in the bottom of the first inning.

NEXT UP FOR THE ANGELS:

The red-hot Angels (62-59), will travel up I-95 to open a three-game weekend series up in Baltimore to face the
Orioles.

The Halos will send Andrew Heaney (No record) to the mound for game one. Heaney is coming back from the
60-day DL.  Baltimore will counter with Jeremy Hellickson (1-2, 4.50 ERA). With the win, the Halos will remain in the second Wild Card spot in the American League.

Anaheim will continue to fight to get into the playoffs.
