Derrick Rose Wanted To Sign With Clippers?
- Updated: July 26, 2017
According to Adrain Wojnarowski of ESPN.com, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose was pushing to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs before deciding on the Cavs.
Wojnarowski reported on this news in an article on ESPN.com. Below is an excerpt of the article. You can read the full article here.
“Rose tried hard to get top Western Conference teams to sign him — the San Antonio Spurs, the LA Clippers — but those teams passed. Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd had interest, but the Los Angeles Lakersand Cavaliers eventually made offers.”
With the exit of Chris Paul the Houston Rockets and the unsure future of Tony Parker long-term, Rose looked to join one of the elite teams in the West in an effort to take down the Golden State Warriors. When both of those teams passed he focused his attention elsewhere.
For may Clipper fans it was a sign of relief. Rose is injury prone and is a scoring point guard who has limitations on the perimeter shooting the ball which allows defenses to clog the lane and dang him to shoot.
