Angels Shutout Nationals 7-0

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used a strong outing from Alex Meyer to shutout Bryce Harper and the Washington Nationals 7-0 last night. For the Angels they snapped the Nets six-game winning streak.
Meyer threw 7 innings, striking out 7 and walking 1 batter. He picked up his 4th win of the year for his efforts. On the other side Gio Gonzalez got the start. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 runs. He walked 3 and struck out 3 as he picked up his 5th loss of the year.
The offense started in the first inning when Albert Pujols hit a RBI single to left field that brought in Yunel Escobar. Andrelton Simmons hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Mike Trout later in the inning and the Halos led 2-0.
C.J. Cron hit a two-run homer in the 6th inning to push the lead to 4-0. Escobar hit a RBI single in the 7th inning that brought in Ben Revere and Mike Trout followed with a two-run homer that pushed the lead to 7-0.
Anaheim will begin their series with the Boston Red Sox tonight at Angel Stadium. Chris Sale and Ricky Nolasco are the projected starters.
