Angels Use Big 3rd Inning To Beat Braves 9-3

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used a big third inning to beat the Atlanta Braves 9-3 on Tuesday night. It was a big night for Albert Pujols as he moved one homerun closer to the 600 club.
For Atlanta Barton Colon got the start. He pitched 2.1 innings allowing 7 hits and 9 runs, only 2 of them earned. He struck out 2 and allowed 1 home run. For his efforts he was awarded the loss.
On the other side Parker Bridwell got the start. He pitched 6 inning allowing 3 runs while striking out 4 and walking 1. He picked up his first win of the season.
The offense got started in the 3rd inning for the Braves. Matt Kemp hit a two-run homerun that brought in Ender Inciarte.
Pujols hit his 599th career homerun in the third inning, a 3-run shot that brought in Eric Young Jr. and Kole Calhoun. Ben Revere reach on a fielder’s choice that brought in Luis Valbuena. Cliff Pennigton reached on a fielder’s choice as well that brought in Andrelton Simmons.
Danny Espinosa hit a RBI single that scored a run. Juan Graterol reached base on a fielder’s choice and scored a run on an error. Young and Calhoun continued the ralled with RBI singles that pushed the Angels lead to 9-2.
In the 7th inning Tyler Flowers hit a solo shot and the Angels went on to win 9-3.
