Galaxy Thumped By Sounders 3-0
- Updated: April 23, 2017
It was ugly for the Galaxy. Very ugly.
LA was not favorites in Sunday’s home match against the Seattle Sounders, and the Sounders proved just why. After a three-goal first half for Seattle where the Galaxy looked utterly lost, LA could not get any consolation in the second half, losing 3-0 in front of an angry home crowd of over 24,000 fans at the StubHub Center.
LA lined up with Brian Rowe in goal after Clement Diop was injured in the loss last weekend to Orlando City.

The Galaxy was quiet throughout the beginning of the game while the Sounders looked the better side straight from the kickoff.
Seattle was attacking constantly, and finally the goal came for the visitors. From a cross on the left side by Nicolas Lodeiro to Clint Dempsey at the back post to head home the opener.
The reigning MLS Cup Champions doubled their leads with an Ashley Cole own goal after a cross from the left wing was tapped beyond Rowe and into the net.
LA looked completely lost. Marking was a mess, position was slack and the attack seemed discoordinated. It was no surprise that the Galaxy was down 2-0 35 minutes into this match.
The Galaxy’s struggles then forced Curt Onalfo to make a change, bringing off Emmanuel Boateng but the Sounders made it 3-0 in the 44th minute. Dempsey found a wide open Jordan Morris to make it a three-goal game before halftime.
The StubHub Center crowd booed the Galaxy off the field at halftime.
The second half was more of the same. The Galaxy attacked for a brief moment at the beginning of the half but could not score nor get a decent shot off.
Then, Morris rattled the crossbar in the 59th minute, reminding the Galaxy of the Sounders’ capabilities.
Bradford Jamieson IV came on for the Galaxy, replacing Nathan Smith in hopes of providing some kind of spark on the wing.
LA pushed but nothing came of the chances. Jermaine Jones saw a header narrowly miss the post and Romain Alessandrini could not get his footing right to capitalize on a chance in the box set up by Giovani Dos Santos.
The game was long lost but the Galaxy was pushing to avoid the shutout defeat. Their efforts fell short and the Sounders held on to win 3-0.
LA takes on the Philadelphia Union next Saturday as they look to bounce back following this dismal performance.
