Clippers Coast By Mavericks 112-101
- Updated: April 5, 2017
With playoff seeding on the line the Los Angeles Clippers need wins against teams like the Dallas Mavericks, their opponents Wednesday night.
Coming into the matchup Los Angeles had won 3 straight and much of that recent success has had to do with Blake Griffin and Chris Paul finding their rhythm.
Over their last 3 games, CP & Blake have combined for 178 points, their most ever in a 3 game span. https://t.co/En6lLAs5vT

Little changed in this matchup. The Clippers got off to a scorching start going 9 of 9 from the field. Many of those open shots were created or taken by Paul. He wasn’t just facilitating things early on, it continued all night. Paul closed out this game with a double-double in points and assists having 22 and 11 respectively. Though he had many highlight plays on the night, few stick to memory quite like this dish to DeAndre Jordan late in the first.

Jordan wasn’t the only Clipper to benefit from Paul’s vision. JJ Redick found himself open from the perimeter all game long thanks to Dallas’ defense collapsing on Griffin in the post and focusing on Paul every time he brought the ball up the court. He took advantage of those opportunities going 5 of 8 from beyond the arc and finishing with 25 points.
Having just mentioned the Mavericks defense collapsing on Griffin in the post I must admit, they had no other choice. Griffin was muscling his way into the low block for the entire game. Taking advantage of seemingly every matchup Rick Carlisle and his team tried against the former Sooner. Griffin went a magnificent 11 of 14 from the field closing out with 32 points and 6 assists.
Meanwhile very little went well for the Mavs offensively. Harrison Barnes led the way with just 15 points and Yogi Ferrell created some great shots with his aggression getting 14.
By the time the final buzzer sounded the Clippers just overwhelmed the Mavs and came out on top 112-101.
A solid win for Los Angeles against a pesky Dallas team that always puts up a good fight. That makes four straight for the Clippers coming right in time for the playoffs. A difficult road test awaits Los Angeles as they take on the San Antonio Spurs Saturday on ABC.
