Angels Will Start Ricky Nolasco In The Season Opener

The Los Angeles Angels will open the new season Monday night in Oakland against the A’s with a new face on the mound. Ricky Nolasco will get the nod as the team’s Opening Day starter. The Angels will open the season with their third starter in the past three seasons.

The Angels confirmed the news on their official Twitter account.

Alex Curry of Fox Sports shared her excitement of the news.

Nolasco will follow Garrett Richards, last year’s starter who had problems facing the World Champions the Chicago Cubs. Longtime starter Jered Weaver got the start in 2015 but took a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Mariners.

Nolasco is coming off an 8-14 (W-L), 4.42 (ERA) season, splitting his time with the Angels and the Minnesota Twins.
