Three Pointers Propel Rockets To Big Win Over Clippers

Clippers

Coming off of a clutch Overtime victory against the Hornets the Los Angeles Clippers were tasked with stopping one of the leagues most high-powered offenses. James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

It didn’t go well.

An early strategy by Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers was to switch off of screens on the Rockets shooters. This strategy backfired and allowed Rockets shooters like Ryan Anderson and Harden to get open from distance.

Not much changed in the third quarter as the Rockets outscored the Clippers 38-20 while all but one of their field goals was from beyond the arc.

Houston ended the night with 20 three pointers, just 5 from the NBA’s all-time single-game record.

Sorry Clipper fans, the horrors continue. Rebounding was again a struggle for Los Angeles. Allowing 19 offensive rebounds prevented the Clippers from gaining any sort of momentum and allowed a scorching hot Rockets offense even more looks at the basket. They would out-rebound Los Angeles by 26.

All of these advantages helped the Rockets coast to a 122-103 victory, setting a new team record.

While very little went right for Los Angeles, some players statistically put up decent numbers. Chris Paul finished with a double-double dropping 16 points to go with 11 dimes. Meanwhile Blake Griffin would get 17 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in what was a rough shooting night for the Forward.

A rough night for Clipper Nation Wednesday and a performance the team will have to forget quickly with the young Milwaukee Bucks coming up Friday.
