According to John Shannon of HockeyCentral on Sportsnet, the Los Angeles Kings have traded defensemen Tom Gilbert to the Washington Capitals.

Gilbert is a former fourth round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Draft. He has spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, Montreal Candaiens, and Los Angeles Kings throughout his career.
Gilbert signed with the Kings last summer during the free agency period. He has appeared in 18 games recorded just 5 points, 1 goal and 4 assists. Gilbert also has a plus minus of -4.
