Reign Weekly Wrap-up: Two Losses to Rival Gulls

In the two games of the week for the Ontario Reign, the team lost both of its games to rivals San Diego Gulls, falling 4-3 Friday at home and then 2-0 Saturday in San Diego. The Reign, 41-26-10-8 and second in the Pacific Division percentage points behind the San Jose Barracuda, next play the Bakersfield Condors, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, at the Citizens Bank Arena.
In the 4-3 loss to the Gulls, Ontario had a 3-2 lead with only 1:43 to go in the third period, before giving up the tying goal to Kevin Roy, while the Gulls had the extra attacker. The overtime decider came on a breakaway goal by Brandon Montour at 2:46. Reign goals came from T.J. Hensick. Mike Amadio and Justin Auger.
In Saturday’s loss, the Reign was stymied by former Kings goalie Jhonas Enroth, who stopped all 25 shots. This was the first time Ontario was shut out this season. The Gulls got two goals from Antoine Laganiere in the third period to claim victory. Reign goalie Jack Campbell made 27 saves but fell to 20-7-5 in his 26th straight start of the season.
