Ducks Score 2 In 3rd Period To Beat Avs

The Anaheim Ducks scored both of their goals in the third period last night as they beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 at the Honda Center.

While the Avs entered the game losers of three of their last four Anaheim has been trending in a positive direction. The first period was controlled by Anaheim. They put 22 shots on goal compared to the Avs 3 shots but neither side could capitalize on their opportunities.

In the second period Gabriel Landeskog put Colorado on the board. His wrist shot goal was assisted by Matt Duchene and Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs held a 1-0 advantage heading into the third period.

Hampus Lindholm tied the score with a slap shot goal in third period. His goal was assisted by Rickard Rakell and Antoine Vermette.

With just over two minutes left in the game Nick Ritchie scored the go ahead goal. His goal was assisted by Ondrej Kase and Anaheim held on to win by a score of 2-1.

Calvin Pickard recorded 34 saves for a .944 save percentage. John Gibson made 21 saves for a .955 save percentage. Anaheim will head out to Minnesota for a quick two game road trip on Saturday night.
