Rakell Lifts Ducks Over Lightning In Overtime

Rickard Rakell scored a wrist shot goal in overtime to lift the Anaheim Ducks over the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 on Tuesday night.  With the win Anaheim had won seven out of their last nine games.

During the first period Tampa controlled the puck. Tampa outshot the Ducks 7-2 shots om goal but neither team could come up with a goal.

In the second period Valtteri Flippula scored a tip-in shot to give the Lightning the lead 1-0. His goal was assisted by Nikita Nesterov and Anton Stralman.

21 seconds later Ryan Getzalf scored a wrist shot goal that tied the score at 1-1. For Getzalf his goal was unassisted. Tampa still controlled the shots on goal in the period 11-7.

Neither team was able to score in regulation and the fans at the Honda Center got some free hockey. Rakell lifted the Ducks to victory with his goal in OT that was assisted by Ryan Kesler.

John Gibson made 27 save for a 96% save percentage. Ben Bishop made 19 saves for a 91% save percentage. Anaheim will host the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.
