Jordan Leads Clippers Over Lakers 113-97

Clippers

The battle for Los Angeles was underway again at Staples Center Saturday afternoon as the Clippers (28-14)squared off against the Lakers (15-29).

The Clippers were coming in on a five game winning streak while the Lakers were trying to snap a two game skid.

After the Lakers won this matchup on Christmas Day it was clear the Clippers wanted to get off to a quick start and it was Austin Rivers that provided that spark early.

Rivers had another solid game starting for this side in the absence of Blake Griffin, knocking down 15 points and bringing much needed energy.

While it was Rivers that got things going it would be DeAndre Jordan that kept the team in control of the game. Finishing the contest with 24 points and 21 rebounds to give him yet another double-double. Not to mention a few highlight reel throw-downs as you might expect.

But there had to be someone feeding Jordan on those lobs and as usual that was Chris Paul. The “Point God” had himself quite the game as well with 20 points, 13 assists and 5 rebounds. Paul wasn’t shy about making some highlights either but his were less highflying and a little more cerebral.

It would be his Clippers that controlled the game all the way to the final buzzer and won 113-97.

A good revenge win for the Clippers after their Christmas night meltdown that put them on a path to losing six in a row. Now on the opposite end of that spectrum the Clippers are on a six game win streak and hope to keep that going with Oklahoma City coming up Monday.

Thanks for reading along Clipper Nation. Here’s to extending the streak and hitting lucky number seven in a row.
